When it comes to regenerated cellulose fibers, people who know them like it, but those who don't understand them will resist them because of the word "regeneration", thinking that they are made of recycled materials and will cause harm to the human body.
In fact, regenerated cellulose fibers, also known as man-made fibers, are fibers made by extracting cellulose from plants (cotton, hemp, bamboo, trees, shrubs, etc.) or proteins, and then processed through a certain process. They are natural and environmentally friendly. Degradation, is considered to be a new type of environmentally friendly materials.
Viscose fiber, modal fiber, bamboo fiber, cupro fiber, as well as lyocell fiber and acetate fiber, which have been in the limelight in recent years, are all regenerated cellulose fibers. Due to different raw materials and different spinning processes, the properties of different regenerated cellulose fibers are also different.
1. Viscose fiber
Viscose fiber is the first generation of regenerated cellulose fiber, which is divided into filament and short filament. The viscose fiber fabric is soft and close to the body, good moisture absorption and breathability, cool to the touch, but not washable, easy to wrinkle and shrink and deform.
2. Modal fiber
Modal fiber is an iterative product of viscose fiber. It is produced by viscose spinning process with beech wood and short-staple cotton as raw materials. The woven fabric is extremely soft to the touch and has good moisture absorption and breathability. The cloth has a bright luster, good drape, good wrinkle resistance, and will not stick to the body when sweating. However, the fabric has poor stiffness and is easy to break and deform.
3. Lyocell fiber
Lyocell fiber is an iterative upgrade product of modal fiber, which is generally called "Tencel" in the industry. The moisture absorption, air permeability and fiber strength of lyocell fiber are not much different from those of modal, but they are better than modal in terms of fabric performance, luster and drape. However, the fabric has poor wrinkle resistance, and because the fabric is light and thin, it will stick to the body after sweating and absorbing moisture.
4. Bamboo fiber
Bamboo fiber, as the name suggests, is a fiber produced from bamboo as raw material. The woven fabric is hygroscopic, breathable, cool to the touch, and naturally antibacterial. However, the fiber has low strength, is not washable, and has a short service life.
5. Cupro fiber
Cupro fiber is a fiber produced from short-staple cotton. The fabric is hygroscopic and breathable, with a soft texture and silky touch similar to silk, but it is not resistant to acid and alkali, and it is easy to wrinkle and difficult to take care of.
6. Acetate
Acetate fiber is a fiber obtained from wood pulp through esterification reaction. The fabric has a strong luster and bright color. The fabric feels cool and comfortable to the touch, drape and smooth, wear-resistant and easy to care for. However, the moisture absorption and air permeability are average. Large quantity and easy to stick to the body.
Among them, cupro fiber and acetate fiber are currently mainly used in the apparel industry due to high prices, delicate and difficult to take care of and other reasons, and bedding products are rarely used.
Different fibers give people different body sensations, so which fiber is better? Whether it is natural fiber or chemical fiber, each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Everyone's budget, appearance, and comfortable experience requirements are also different. The one that suits you is the best.
